Source tree
| Path | What it contains |
|---|---|
src/ | The emulator. core (CPU, kernel, system services), video_core (GPU and Vulkan renderer), shader_recompiler, audio_core, dynarmic (ARM JIT), yuzu (Qt GUI target that outputs lichii.exe), yuzu_cmd (eden-cli), android, tests. |
docs/ | Build guide, user handbook (inherited from Eden) and many game-specific investigation notes, such as kirby-white-world.md, the Donkey Kong Bananza notes and STARFOX_UPSCALE_STANDIN.md. |
tools/nx2/ | Python tools for Switch 2 work: shader sweeps, static shader extraction, NSO symbol lookup, NPDM dumps, frame-dump indexing and a debug MCP adapter. |
.github/workflows/ | release-binaries.yml builds every release; label-issues.yml labels issues. |
dist/branding/ | The Lichii logo, icon and library artwork by YOB (yobslab). |
NX2_NOTES.md, NX2_GPU_THREAD_SPLIT.md | Developer notes on bringing up Switch 2 executables and the split GPU thread. |
eglantine.profdata | The profile used for the PGO builds. |
AGENTS.md | Instructions for AI coding agents working on the repo. |
The README notes that “some inherited documentation and internal build target names still use upstream names.” You will see yuzu, eden-cli and EDEN_NX2_* environment variables throughout; that is expected.
How releases are built
Each release is produced by .github/workflows/release-binaries.yml. Its build matrix has seven jobs:
| Job | Runner | Output |
|---|---|---|
| linux-x86_64 | ubuntu-24.04 | AppImage + tar.gz |
| linux-x86_64-pgo | ubuntu-24.04 | AppImage + tar.gz, clang with eglantine.profdata |
| windows-x86_64 | windows-2022 | zip, MSVC, Qt msvc2022_64, Vulkan SDK |
| windows-x86_64-pgo | windows-2022 | zip, MSYS2 MinGW clang with the PGO profile |
| linux-aarch64 | ubuntu-24.04-arm | AppImage + tar.gz |
| linux-aarch64-pgo | ubuntu-24.04-arm | AppImage + tar.gz |
| macos-arm64 | macos-15 | zip + dmg |
A comment in the workflow explains the profile choice: with Eden’s profile, which comes from Switch 1 games, Mario Kart World ran at about half the speed of the normal build; with eglantine.profdata it ran at about the same speed. MSVC cannot read an LLVM profile, so the Windows PGO build uses MinGW clang.
Verify a release
- The release page is under
github.com/zortos293/Lichii/releases/tag/build-N. - From build 65 on, the publisher is
github-actions[bot]and the notes end with “Automatic build ofnx2at <full commit hash>”. The short hash is also in the release title, for example build 75 (c9ebb5c). - Compare the SHA-256 shown on GitHub with your file (digests for build 75 are on the download page).
- Earlier hand-built releases (October 31 and build 31) attached
SHA256SUMS.txtand a source zip.
Build from source
From docs/Build.md and CMakeLists.txt: CMake 3.31 or newer, a C++20 compiler (MSVC, clang or GCC), Ninja recommended, Qt 6 for the GUI, and on Windows the Vulkan SDK. The guide warns that it is “intended for developers ONLY”.
cmake -S . -B build -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Release -G Ninja
cmake --build build
Clone github.com/zortos293/Lichii and check out nx2; the build guide’s own clone command still points to upstream Eglantine.
Reporting bugs
Use the issue tracker. Issue titles follow templates such as [GBug] (game bug), [VBug] (video bug) and [Crash], and are labelled by GPU vendor and OS. On November 5, 2026 there were around 30 open issues. Never attach game files, keys or firmware.
FAQ
What is the official Lichii GitHub repository?
github.com/zortos293/Lichii, owned by the GitHub user zortos293. Releases are at github.com/zortos293/Lichii/releases and bugs at /issues. The repository was previously named zortos293/Eglantine, and the old address still redirects to it.
Is zortos293/Lichii a GitHub fork?
Not in GitHub’s sense: it is a standalone repository, not linked to a parent with the fork button. But the README calls Lichii an independent fork of Eglantine, Eden, yuzu and Sudachi, and the commit history shows regular merges of upstream Eglantine’s nx2 branch.
What language is Lichii written in?
Mostly C++ (94.1% by GitHub’s count), with Kotlin from the inherited Android front end, CMake, Python tools and GLSL shaders.
How do I build Lichii from source?
Follow docs/Build.md in the repository (it still says “Building Eglantine”). In short: install the dependencies in docs/Deps.md, then cmake -S . -B build -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Release -G Ninja and cmake --build build. The GUI target is still called yuzu; it outputs lichii.exe on Windows and lichii elsewhere.
Who builds the release files?
The release-binaries.yml GitHub Actions workflow. Releases from build 65 on are published by github-actions[bot] and say “Automatic build of nx2 at <commit>”, so you can match each file to a source commit.
How many stars does Lichii have?
1,466 stars and 195 forks on November 5, 2026, five days after the repository was created on October 31, 2026.
